Founding a nonprofit therapy and medication management office has been a deeply fulfilling journey, one rooted in a passion for providing holistic care to clients and a commitment to supporting therapists. My educational path began at Seattle Pacific University, where I developed a foundational understanding of psychology and human behavior. This academic journey continued at George Fox University in Portland, Oregon, where I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of therapeutic practices and mental health.
My professional career started in Holcomb Behavioral Health, Upper Darby, PA, where I held my first official therapist position. It was here that I discovered the profound joy of helping families and teens navigate their mental health challenges. Each day in Upper Darby reaffirmed my dedication to this field, as I witnessed the transformative power of therapy in the lives of those I served.
Following this, I had the privilege of working in a residential program at Devereux. This experience was particularly impactful, as it underscored the importance of providing a stable, supportive environment for young individuals facing significant mental health issues. The resilience and growth I witnessed in these teens further fueled my desire to make a difference in the field of mental health.
My journey then led me to an outpatient mental health practice within a hospital setting. This role expanded my expertise in medication management and reinforced the critical need for accessible mental health care. Throughout these experiences, I observed a recurring theme: many individuals were hesitant to seek therapy due to stigma, fear, or a lack of accessible resources.
These observations and experiences inspired me to establish a nonprofit therapy and medication management office. My vision was to create a space where clients could receive comprehensive mental health care without the barriers that often deter individuals from seeking help. Equally important was my commitment to the well-being of therapists. I recognized that to provide the best care to clients, therapists themselves needed support, professional development opportunities, and a nurturing work environment.
Our nonprofit is designed to be a sanctuary for both clients and therapists. For clients, we offer accessible, stigma-free therapy and medication management services. We strive to make mental health care approachable and to demystify the process, ensuring that individuals feel comfortable and supported from the moment they walk through our doors.
For therapists, we provide a supportive work environment that prioritizes their mental and emotional well-being. We offer ongoing professional development, opportunities for collaboration, and a community that values their contributions. By taking care of our therapists, we ensure that they are equipped to provide the highest quality care to our clients.
In founding this nonprofit, my goal has always been to bridge gaps in mental health care access and to foster a community where seeking help is seen as a strength, not a weakness. I am immensely proud of the work we do and am continually inspired by the resilience of our clients and the dedication of our therapists. Together, we are creating a brighter, more compassionate future for mental health care.
