Autism Assessment at Schell Therapy

At Schell Therapy, we offer a 6-session telehealth assessment designed to provide clarity, support, and a path forward. Our approach integrates diagnostic evaluation and therapeutic support, ensuring that you feel heard, validated, and empowered throughout the process.

What to Expect in Your 6 Telehealth Sessions

Session 1: Client History & Goal Setting

  • Gather the client’s background information and history.

  • Review family history and life experiences.

  • Identify the client’s assessment and non-assessment goals.

  • Examine any relevant documents provided by the client.

  • Explain the assessment process in detail.

Session 2: Administer MIGDAS-2

  • Begin the administration of the MIGDAS-2 (Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Tool).

  • Continue gathering observational and behavioral insights.

Session 3: Complete MIGDAS-2 & Begin SRS-2

  • Finish and complete the MIGDAS-2 assessment.

  • Explain the purpose of the SRS-2 and how it contributes to the diagnostic process.

  • Introduce the SRS-2 (Social Responsiveness Scale-2).

Session 4: Review Additional Assessments

  • If applicable, review additional screening tools, such as:

    • AQ (Autism Spectrum Quotient)

    • EQ (Empathy Quotient)

    • RAADS-R (Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale)

    • CAT-Q (Cambridge Depersonalization Scale)

    • Other Rule-Out assessments (ADHD/OCD etc)

  • Discuss any co-occurring conditions that may require further assessment.

Session 5: Review DSM-5-TR Criteria & Preliminary Results

  • Analyze how the assessment results align with the DSM-5-TR criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  • Review results from the SRS-2 and MIGAS-2

  • Discuss findings related to:

    • Social communication and interaction challenges.

    • Restricted and repetitive behaviors, interests, or activities.

    • Sensory sensitivities and other key diagnostic factors.

  • Address any questions or concerns before finalizing results.

Session 6: Final Diagnosis & Next Steps

  • Review the final assessment results and DSM-V criteria and possible diagnosis (if applicable).

  • Provide personalized recommendations for support, therapy, and accommodations.

  • Discuss available therapeutic interventions, such as behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, and social skills training.

  • Offer mental health support and coping strategies for moving forward.

  • Develop an individualized plan for continued care.
